I thought this project might be relatively easy. It was anything but. After 10 years and hundreds of outings dancing along all the Rims of the Grand Canyon I am beaten down and humbled. But the adventure filled my soul with experiences that were life-changing.

The Canyon taught me that the photographs, as meaningful as they may be, are merely tokens of something larger and indescribable. That places have a 'with-it-ness', a sensuous being all of their own. A snapshot cannot bring this to you. A short hike hardly scratches the surface. You need to put in the time and build a relationship with the Canyon, or for that matter anywhere, to capture the sublime.

 

The final product was a book of photographs and words of the remarkable vistas that crossed my path during the trip.  The book is currently sold out but the images below remain engraved in my heart.
